About this model

What it is

The PL222 is the largest and roomiest unit in the plastic range and the one built for wheelchair access. It has an 890 mm wide door instead of the narrow door on a standard portaloo, a spacious interior and a balustrade grab rail beside the pan.

In Australia this is the accessible option in the fast deploy tier, aimed at festivals, agricultural shows, sporting carnivals, markets, beaches and public reserves that need an accessible amenity for a season or a weekend rather than a permanent structure. If the amenity has to be permanent and certified accessible design is the priority, the steel accessible units with a fixed ramp are the better conversation.

How it is built

It runs a hand pump fresh flush system with a 38 litre sink tank and a 61 litre waste tank, so it is fully self contained with no water or power connection needed, and it can be fitted with a set of four lifting hooks for crane or hiab placement as an option. Occupied signage, a paper holder and a lock come as standard.

Delivery and freight

Units ship by sea and travel by road, and freight is quoted for your port and quantity.

Quote enquiry process

How an enquiry works

A quote enquiry is not an order. Nothing is committed until you have a written quote naming the scope, the price and the delivery terms.

  1. 1

    Tell us the block

Send the model, your suburb or postcode and what the block is like. Access, slope and crane room change the price more than anything else.

A written quote covering the unit, freight to your address, and what is and is not included.

  3. 3

    We start your build

We lock in your design with you and then we coordinate with our builders to begin production.

  4. 4

Frequently asked questions

Is it a certified AS 1428 accessible unit?

No. It is designed for wheelchair access with an 890 mm wide door, a roomy interior and a balustrade grab rail, but it is not a certified AS 1428.1 unit. If certified compliance is mandated for your event, venue or council contract, confirm that requirement with us before you order so we can talk through the steel accessible options instead.

Does it need water, power or plumbing?

No. It is self contained. The hand pump draws from the 38 litre fresh tank for the flush and basin, and waste collects in the 61 litre tank for pump out. Nothing connects to sewer or mains, which is what makes it practical for festivals, beaches, showgrounds and reserves where no services are available.

Do I need council approval?

Requirements vary by council, venue, site and intended use. Before deployment, confirm building and plumbing approvals, public-health and wastewater controls, accessible unit numbers, access-path conditions, licensed-trade requirements, servicing and waste-removal arrangements with the relevant authority. Confirm every applicable condition in writing before the unit is ordered or placed. Keep that written confirmation with site file.

How often will it need servicing?

The 61 litre waste tank is smaller than the toilet only heavy duty unit, so expect more frequent pump outs at a busy event. Accessible units often see steady rather than heavy traffic, but plan servicing on the same run as your standard units and make sure the truck can reach it without blocking the access path.

What ground and approach does it need?

Firm, level ground and a safe, even approach path so a wheelchair user can reach and enter the door without a lip or a soft edge. Grass, sand and gravel usually need matting or a temporary path. Place it near the accessible parking or the main accessible route rather than at the end of a row of standard units.

How is it delivered and moved on site?

It ships by sea and travels by road to your site. At about 160 kg and 2,218 mm long it is bigger than a standard booth, so plan the truck approach and the placement. The optional set of four lifting hooks lets a crane or hiab place it directly, which is worth adding if you move units between events.

How does it compare to the steel accessible units?

Different jobs. This is the fast deploy plastic option for events and seasonal use, self contained and easy to move. The steel accessible units are semi permanent, insulated, come with a fixed ramp and handrails and connect to mains water, sewer and power for councils, venues and care facilities. Neither is certified to AS 1428.1 without review.

What warranty applies?

Warranty terms are confirmed in writing with your quote and order documents, and cover manufacturing defects in the moulded shell, tanks, grab rail and hardware. Wear items such as seals, the hand pump and door hardware, plus damage from misuse, vandalism or rough handling, sit outside warranty. Fleet buyers usually order a spares kit with the first shipment.
