About this model

What it is

The PL11 is the compact unit in our plastic tier, built for fast deployment rather than permanent installation. It is a fresh flush system with a hand basin, running a 43 litre sink tank and a 190 litre waste tank off a simple foot pump, so it needs no water connection and no power. As standard this model is configured for North American plumbing.

If you are buying for Australian or New Zealand use, the heavy duty PL12 portaloo is the one spec'd for AU and NZ plumbing with larger tanks and a steel skid base, and we will tell you that at enquiry rather than after the container ships.

Events, festivals, showgrounds, construction sites, hire fleets and disaster relief are the usual homes for this tier. It is a different job from our steel toilet cabins, which are semi permanent and connect to mains, and both have their place in a fleet.

How it is built

The shell is a double skin HDPE roof over HDPE wall panels on a moulded HDPE base, with a lockable door, gender and occupied signage, a paper holder, coat hanger and mirror, and a vent pipe for odour control. A single skin roof is available if you want to trim the shipping weight.

Delivery and freight

It ships unassembled and flat packs efficiently, with ten units running about 11 cubic metres, which is what makes it economic to bring in by the container for a hire fleet.

How an enquiry works

A quote enquiry is not an order. Nothing is committed until you have a written quote naming the scope, the price and the delivery terms.

  1. 1

    Tell us the block

Send the model, your suburb or postcode and what the block is like. Access, slope and crane room change the price more than anything else.

A written quote covering the unit, freight to your address, and what is and is not included.

  3. 3

    We start your build

Frequently asked questions

Is this the right unit for Australia?

Not usually. The PL11 is configured for North American plumbing. For Australian and New Zealand use we point buyers to the heavy duty PL12 portaloo, which is spec'd for AU and NZ plumbing, has a 160 litre sink tank and a 280 litre waste tank, and sits on a steel skid base. Tell us your destination and we will confirm the right build.

Does it need water, power or plumbing?

No. It is fully self contained. The foot pump draws from the 43 litre fresh tank for the flush and basin, and waste collects in the 190 litre tank for pump out. Approval, plumbing, electrical, public-health and wastewater requirements vary by site and use; confirm each requirement with the relevant authority before the unit is safely deployed.

Do I need council approval for one of these?

Requirements vary by council, site and intended use. Before deployment, confirm building and plumbing approvals, public-health and wastewater controls, required unit numbers, licensed-trade requirements, servicing and disposal arrangements with the relevant authority or venue. Confirm all conditions in writing before ordering or placing the unit on site. Record the decision, responsible contractor and servicing schedule in project file before delivery is booked.

How is it shipped and what does freight cost?

It ships unassembled, which keeps volume low at roughly 11 cubic metres per ten units. You can arrange your own freight or we can organise the shipment to your door. Freight is quoted separately for your port and quantity, because a part container to Brisbane and a full container to Perth are very different numbers.

How often does it need servicing?

That depends on traffic. The 190 litre waste tank suits light to moderate use between services, and busy events or crews will need more frequent pump outs. Plan servicing access from the start, because a truck that cannot reach the unit is the most common problem operators run into. We can advise on unit counts for your expected numbers.

How does it compare to the steel toilet cabins?

Different jobs. The plastic tier is fast to deploy, needs no connections and moves easily, which suits events, hire fleets and short term site work. The steel cabins are semi permanent, insulated, and connect to mains water, sewer and power for parks, clubs and rural blocks. Many buyers end up running both.

Are the photos of the actual unit?

The studio images are the manufacturer's own product photography supplied with the factory documentation. We are arranging on location photography in Australia as units land here. If you need to see one before ordering a fleet, ask us about a sample unit and we will tell you what is available and when.

What warranty applies?

Warranty terms are confirmed in writing with your quote and order documents, and cover manufacturing defects in the moulded shell, tanks and hardware. Wear items such as seals, the foot pump diaphragm and door hardware, along with damage from misuse, vandalism or incorrect handling, sit outside warranty. Fleet buyers usually order a spares kit with the first container.
