About this model

What it is

The PL296A is the roomy toilet and basin accessible unit in the range. It gives councils, venues, sporting bodies and care facilities a roomy accessible amenity with genuine turning space rather than a squeeze.

How it is built

A structural steel frame with EPS insulated panels gives an interior sized to take a wheelchair comfortably, entered from a fixed painted steel access ramp with a handrail through a 1000 mm wide lockable door. Inside there is a porcelain pan with a backrest, a hand basin with a mixer, grab rails, LED lighting, an exhaust fan and an awning window, plus a floor waste, a 15 mm cold water inlet, a flexible sewer waste connection, a 32 mm grey water outlet and a 240 V connection of the type used on caravans.

An optional hot water service is available as a 20 L gas or 80 L electric unit.

Delivery and freight

Forklift pockets are built into the ramp so the whole unit stays relocatable, which matters for showgrounds, events and reserves that move their amenities around the season. It ships worldwide, travels by truck and is set down by crane truck, tilt tray or forklift onto a prepared, level base.

Quote enquiry process

How an enquiry works

A quote enquiry is not an order. Nothing is committed until you have a written quote naming the scope, the price and the delivery terms.

  1. 1

    Tell us the block

Send the model, your suburb or postcode and what the block is like. Access, slope and crane room change the price more than anything else.

Frequently asked questions

How is it different from the accessible shower unit?

The PL296A is a toilet and basin unit with a ramp, a backrest pan and grab rails. If you also need an accessible shower, the PL296W adds a rain and hand shower with a fold down seat inside a full wheelchair wet room on the same footprint. Choose the PL296A when showering is not part of the brief.

Is it a certified accessible toilet?

No. It provides ambulant assistance through a ramp, a 1000 mm door, grab rails, a backrest pan and a roomy interior, but it is not certified to AS 1428.1. If your project mandates certified compliance, tell us at enquiry stage and we will review the specification and engineering with you before anything is ordered.

Do I need council approval?

In most cases yes. A plumbed, powered amenity on a public or commercial site is building and plumbing work, and accessible facilities can also attract access consultant review. Requirements differ by council and state. Talk to your council, and to an access consultant if the site is public, before you order. Approval is not something we can guarantee.

Can it be relocated later?

Yes. Forklift pockets are built into the ramp and the unit is designed to be lifted and moved, which suits showgrounds, sporting seasons, festivals and staged works. Each relocation still needs the plumbing and electrical connections made and disconnected by licensed trades, and a level, prepared base at the new position.

How is it delivered and what access do I need?

It ships worldwide by sea, then travels by road. At about 750 kg with a 2,960 mm long body plus ramp, it is set down by crane truck, tilt tray or forklift. You need a clear truck approach and enough room to land both the unit and the ramp run. Let us know gates, gradients and overhead wires when you enquire.

What services does it need on site?

A 15 mm cold water supply, a sewer or approved septic connection for the flexible waste, a 32 mm grey water outlet run and a 240 V supply. Your licensed plumber and licensed electrician make the connections. Bring the services to the connection wall before delivery day so the unit can be commissioned without a second visit.

What is included and what is quoted separately?

Included are the ramp and handrail, the wide lockable door, the pan with backrest, basin and mixer, grab rails, exhaust fan, LED lighting, awning window and the plumbing and electrical rough in. Hot water service, freight, crane hire, footings, site works and the licensed connections on site are quoted separately.

What warranty applies?

Warranty terms are confirmed in writing with your quote and order documents, covering the structure and the ramp separately from the fitted plumbing and electrical items. Consumables and damage from incorrect installation are excluded. Keep the compliance certificates from your licensed plumber and electrician, as service claims normally depend on them.
